Acrobatic Dance or ‘Acro’ as it is commonly referred to by dancers and dance professionals, is the beautiful fusion of classical dance technique and the precision of athleticism of acrobatic elements. Often defined by unique choreography, Acro dancers seamlessly blend musicality, emotional expression, line and extension with acrobatic movements in a dance context. More recently Acro gained popularity with the wide spread success of contemporary circus Cirque Du Soleil and main stream tv shows such as ‘So You Think You Can Dance?’, ‘Got To Dance’ and ‘Greatest Dancer’.

Students will train once a week in the 6 areas of Acro technique; cardio, strength, flexibility, balance, limbering & tumbling.

Each dancer no matter what age will be pushed to their ability level during weekly classes. Acro is not for the faint hearted and requires discipline. Students may be given homework, stretches and skills that will need to be improved week on week.

Please do not expect to be back flipping within the first term! Each skill has a set level of progressions that must be mastered before moving forward. Mastering each progression is key to success in the desired skill.

*Please note that Acro is NOT gymnastics. If you already has some ability in gym, this is an enhancement to Acro technique only.
